After months of not having the brain cells or the time to really read a book, I put my nose to the grindstone and finished 2 volumes that have been sitting on my "To Read" pile. I still have a lot more to go, but now that I've gotten started, I should be able to chug on through a few more before the end of the month.
1.
Listening to the Heartbeat of God: A Celtic Spirituality by J. Phillip Newell - We went to see Rev. Newell last year when he spoke at Brent's church and were quite impressed. A couple of months ago I borrowed Cal's copy of the above title to read through with the idea of getting it for my MIL. Not really a "How To", more a discussion of the theological differences between the Celtic Church and its Roman counterpart, but definitely worth reading, especially for those folk interested in the Celtic and who play on the Christian side of the Force. It won't change my spiritual path, but perhaps it will help my MIL understand some of where I am coming from. I'm passing it on to Brent to vet, and if he likes it, we will purchase 2 copies, one for the MIL and one for SIL who expressed an interest when we described it to her.

At Knit's End: Meditations for Women Who Knit Too Much by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee aka The Yarn Harlot - Got this as a birthday gift 2 years ago from
chelledg. I should have finished it ages ago, but its sized like other meditation books, which means its fairly small and I kept misplacing it. Like the Harloty blog, its full of humor and knitting insights. Now I just need to read her other books...
