I don't usually ask for things like this but I'm asking tonight. I read a blog called The Yarn Harlot. Its written by Stephanie Pearl-McFee, a Canadian mother of three, who just happens to be a knitter and loves to write about it. She has the rare ability to approach a somewhat dry topic with a wonderful serving of humor. And she also allows her readers a view of her life and her family with the same wonderful light touch. She is a grand lady, a vegan, a pacifist and a tireless worker for charities, most notably Doctors Without Boarders.
And she is being stalked by a person claiming to be a "Christian American". This individual took offense to a wonderful post she wrote about celebrating Canada Day and has turned it into an obsession (Stephanie talks about the history in
this blog post). From what has been revealed, the stalker has threatened both life and livelihood. Stephanie has not asked for help, merely requested that her true readers ignore this individual's hateful comments and language.
I am lighting a candle tonight, although it is not my usual shift, and asking Brighid to watch over Stephanie and her family. If any of you out there, especially those of you who work with wool, have any positive energy or prayers to send to this wonderful woman, please do so. The more love we send her way, the better.
