"So the Shortest Day Came..."
Dec. 21st, 2007 08:56 amHappy Yule Eve to everyone in the Northern Hemisphere! I hope you are making the most of the shortest day. I spent yesterday swamped at work and bogged down with brain pain, hence no update. But I couldn't let today go by without putting some words here.
First and most importantly, I would like to wish my Loving and Long Suffering Husband a Happy Anniversery. He's put up with me for 5 years and is still coming back for more, so either he really loves me or he's mentally deranged (or perhaps both). I tend to hope its the former.
Next on the list is Lady
silmaril, who deserves great kudos for officially receiving her Doctorate in Electrical Engineering yesterday. Congradulations, dearheart, on the end to all your hard work!!
Congradulations also go out to
brigidsblest, who has officially joined the ranks of those of us "Livin' La Vida Dorka". Good luck on your new adventure!
And lastly, Blessings on
mermaiden for running her first public Yule ritual last night. In response to the "War on Christmas" vandalism of 2 pagan holiday offerings (one in Green Bay, WI and the other in a town in upstate NY near her home), she and some friends held an open, public, eccumenical Yule ritual in a local park. Together, this small group, which included both Pagans and Christians, braved the extreme cold and brought back light into our darkened world. They remind us that differences in religion should NEVER be a boundry to the common good and that this season, no matter what name you give it, is about peace, light and hope for the future.
Tonight Brent and I are heading out for our annual Anniversery dinner. This year we are hitting the Cheesecake Factory and hoping to eat before midnight. Tomorrow we are focusing on tasks around the house and on our last minute holiday shopping. Sunday it looks like we may be getting together with G & K and their kids or finally going to see The Golden Compass or both (we don't know yet). Sweeny Todd is also on our list of must sees, but we may wait until the weekend after Christmas to see that, as I'm sure the showings will be jammed this weekend.
